Program Overview

The Director of Church Ministries B.A. degree requires a Theology major and two minors; the first, a minor in church ministries and the second, a minor in non-profit management.

The Director of Church Ministries requires you to specialize in an area of ministry to serve the church. By careful use of electives. Students can add a second specialization.

Areas of ministry include:

  • Evangelism - outreach ministry leading people to Jesus Christ
  • Missions - taking the Gospel of Jesus Christ across cultural boundaries
  • Parish teaching - administering programs like vacation Bible school and Sunday School
  • Youth ministry – using relational ministry to serve congregational youth programs
  • Pre-deaconess/social ministry – develop skills in nurturing people with special needs

If you have earned a major in a field compatible with church ministries, such as Parish Music, Parish Nursing, and Social Work, you can become certified after completing a Church Ministries Minor for Related Majors.


The curriculum for the Director of Church Ministries B.A. includes Theology major coursework as well as classes in interpersonal communications and writing and delivering devotional messages.
