Retroactive Credits

Did you know you can earn retroactive credits if your first foreign language course at CUW is higher than 101? If you earn at least a C in the first language course you take at CUW, you are eligible to earn up to 14 retroactive credits for lower-level courses.

Here’s how it works

If you earn a final grade of at least a C and your first Spanish course at CUW is:

  • SPAN 102: you earn 4 retro credits (for SPAN 101)
  • SPAN 201: you earn 8 retro credits (for SPAN 101 and SPAN 102)
  • SPAN 202: you earn 11 retro credits (for SPAN 101, SPAN 102, and SPAN 201)
  • SPAN 301: you earn 14 retro credits (for SPAN 101, SPAN 102, SPAN 201, and SPAN 202)

Getting Retro Credits Added to Your Transcript

If you are eligible for retroactive foreign language credits, you must:

  • Earn a final grade of at least a C (so study hard!)
  • Wait until grades for that semester are posted

Fill out a form in the Registrar's office so that the credits will appear on your transcript
