Music Program

The Master of Church Music program is designed to help participants develop and enhance their skills as church musicians, offering curriculum with concentrations in organ, choral music, and handbells.  While taught from a Lutheran theological perspective, students of culturally and ecumenically diverse backgrounds have brought a richness to the program that benefits all involved.   The internationally recognized faculty and the opportunity for students to complete the program in concentrated summer blocks, makes Concordia’s MCM program a draw for students from throughout the USA and beyond.

 

Program Highlights

  • The program can be completed in concentrated summer sessions on a three-year rotating basis of courses.
  • Some evening classes are available in the fall and spring semesters.
  • Faculty are internationally known church musicians.
  • Courses emphasize liturgical church music practices, musical forms, and the song of the church.
  • Campus organs include a 63-rank Steiner Reck organ.
  • Applied lessons offered in voice and organ.
  • Final project is recital, service or concert.
  • On-Campus summer housing available.
  • The full program can be completed with 36 credits.
