Did you know that "Data Scientist" has been ranked in the top three best jobs in America every year since 2016 (according to Glassdoor)? And the job outlook is expected to grow in the next 10 years. As a Data Scientist, you extract, visualize, and communicate information from large volumes of data and work in a variety of areas such as Public Health, Sports and Human Performance, and Environmental Issues.

Concordia’s degree in data science and analytics program will equip students with the knowledge and skills needed to ethically manipulate and effectively analyze data, revealing insights into problem domains. 

This program is also offered as a minor. 

What to Expect

In the data science degree program curriculum, you will gain knowledge from four main areas of study: math and statistics, computer science, data science and analytics, and communication. An applied analytics course emphasizes using tools from statistics, mathematics, and technology to extract valuable information from large sets of data and skills from communication to convey information and insights to a broad audience.

As a degree in data science and analytics student, you may select a concentration in Public Health, Environmental Issues, or Sport and Human Performance to learn context vernacular, and key issues of a particular field. You will learn and be able to:

  • Analyze and interpret data using an ethical approach stemming from a Christian worldview
  • Demonstrate the ability to select the appropriate statistical analysis and execute using statistical software
  • Discern appropriate algorithms and software tools as they apply to problem-solving in various user domains
  • Apply data science and analytics concepts and strategies to solve real-world problems
  • Communicate the solutions effectively using oral, written, and symbolic formats
