Program Overview

This is an online dual licensure program that prepares you to effectively serve and teach English Language Learners (ELLs) or English Learners (ELs). You will help them become more proficient in academic English and improve their skills in their respective native language. As a K-12 bilingual educator, you will need to further develop the social skills and cultural awareness of students. You will learn the standards, expectations, and dynamics of different cultures to lead and work with students and their families.

Program Options (Licensure and/or Master's degree)

ESL/Bilingual is an accelerated graduate-level program that can be taken as license-only for current teachers. Or the license can be earned in the Accelerated Plan for Teacher Licensure (CAPTL). The CAPTL program is for invidiuals that have already earned their bachelor's degree and are pursing their initial teacher licensure.

Licensure Only Option > 24 credits
        Master's of Education + Licensure Option > 42 credits

Students who desire licensure in another state must contact their state department of education for details about whether or not this coursework will meet state requirements. Students from outside of Wisconsin may earn the Master’s degree without the teacher licensure.
