Industrial engineering involves efficient design and continuous improvement of critical processes and systems by integrating people and technology. Industrial engineers address challenges to make businesses more effective and productive.

During my internship I had a lot of excellent experiences learning from industry professionals and [collaborating] on projects. My favorite part of the internship was taking on a project that utilized small changes but ultimately had a big impact. In the end it saved the company a very large amount of money while improving overall workflow.

Accreditation

Concordia University will seek to have its B.S. Industrial Engineering program accredited by the Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology; the application is due upon the graduation of the first cohort in Spring 2028.

Outcomes

Based on the University Mission and the Engineering programs mission, the Program Learning Outcomes (PLO) of the Industrial Engineering program (also called studernt outcomes in ABET terminology) are:

Outcome 1: An ability to identify, formulate, and solve complex engineering problems by applying principles of engineering, science, and mathematics.

Outcome 2: An ability to apply engineering design to produce solution that meet specified needs with consideration of public health, safety, and welfare, as well as global, cultural, social, environmental, and economic factors.

Outcome 3: An ability to communicate effectively with a range of audiences.

Outcome 4: An ability to recognize ethical and professional responsibilities in engineering situation and make informed judgments, which must consider the impact of engineering solutions in global, economic, environmental, and social contexts.
