Where is the health center located?
The Health Center is located in the Student Center (Albrecht 113).

What days/hours is it open?
Monday-Friday 9:00-4:00

Who staffs the Health Center?
A nurse and a nurse practitioner staff the center. Depending on your concern, a nurse and/or nurse practitioner may see you.

What is a nurse practitioner?
A nurse practitioner is a board-certified health care provider who can assess, diagnose and treat a wide range of conditions and illnesses. NPs can write prescriptions, order lab work and diagnostic tests, and refer you to specialists as needed.

How do I set up an appointment?
We recommend you call to set up an appointment at: 262-243-4574. We take walk-ins as well if we have an opening in our schedule.

Am I charged a fee for the visit?

There is no fee for seeing the nurse or nurse practitioner. There is only a fee when a procedure is performed or a medication is prescribed and dispensed.

Are there any required forms?
Every new student is required to submit a completed Health History form.  If you will be residing on campus, you also need to submit a completed online Hepatitis B & Meningitis form.

Is a physical exam and health history forms required?
A physical is NOT required for admission, however we recommend an annual physical exam. A health history form is required at the health center prior to a visit with the nurse practitioner.

If you have a significant health history we recommend you submit a health history upon admission to the university.

Are vaccines, TB testing or physical exams required for admission to Concordia?
Vaccines are not required but they are highly recommended.

Recommended vaccines include:

  • Tdap
  • Hep B
  • Menactra
  • HPV
  • Varicella
  • MMR

TB testing is not required unless you have traveled or were born in certain at-risk countries. Please refer to our health history form for a list of these countries. Individual programs might have specific requirements for vaccines and TB testing. Check with your program for details.

Does the Health Center offer vaccines or TB testing?
The Health Center does not offer vaccines. We recommend you visit your primary care provider or go to a walk-in clinic to receive vaccines. We will write a prescription for a vaccine when needed. We collaborate with Walgreens to offer flu clinics throughout the flu season as well. We do offer TB testing for a fee.

Is Health Insurance required?
Health insurance is not required for admission, but individual programs may have this requirement. Nonetheless health insurance is strongly recommended.

Does Concordia offer a health insurance plan?
Yes, Concordia offers a voluntary student health insurance plan.  To find out more information visit www.wpsic.com/waicu and click on Concordia University.

What medications/equipment should I keep in my dorm room?
We recommend students have the following in their rooms:

  • pain-reliever/fever-reducer (such as Tylenol or Ibuprofen)
  • Band-Aids
  • insurance card

Many over-the-counter medications are available for free in the student health center's self-care station which is located outside of the office. The self-care area also contains information for local walk-in clinics and emergency departments.
