Bluegrass comes to CUW

Concordia's Music Department and Wisconsin Music Ventures invite students, staff, and community members to an afternoon of Americana at the Lakeshore Bluff Amphitheater. The afternoon will feature soloists Scott Lowery on guitar and Eric Langford on mandolin. In the case of rain, the performance will be given in the Chapel.

--ABOUT THE SOLOISTS--

Scott Lowery recently moved to Wauwatosa from Southeast Minnesota, where he’s been performing hillbilly heirloom classics, pan-fried blues, and organic originals for the past 20 years. Scott enjoys playing outdoors at farmer’s markets, pizza nights and backyard barbecues, and will plan to bring along extra implements of percussion, in case anyone wants to sit in with him. He’s a charter member of the Beef Slough Boys, Turkey Creek, and Northern Shoveler, with tracks available online from all of these groups. He plays six- and twelve-string guitar, harmonica, kazoo, tin whistle, and washboard.

Eric Langford of Waukesha plays mandolin in the bluegrass tradition: old tunes fused with elements of jazz, blues, and swing; moods ranging from haunting melodies to upbeat stomps. Eric was a member of the award-winning Liberty Bluegrass Band and has performed with several groups in the area.
