ABOUT THE SPEAKER
“ I feel very fortunate to have a job I love. Every day is different. Every day is a challenge.” -Mark Baden

Mark Baden’s passion for weather started at a young age. He saw lightning strike a tree when he was 7 and has been fascinated by weather ever since. From book reports to science projects, Mark always focused on the weather. His passion led him to Western Illinois University to get his meteorology degree.

Mark has been the chief meteorologist at WISN-TV for the past 25 years. He has been through it all. Blizzards, tornadoes, floods, droughts, heat waves, and the Polar Vortex. SE Wisconsin always brings a forecasting challenge, especially with our proximity to one of the largest lakes in the world. Before arriving at WISN, Mark was a meteorologist in Des Moines, St. Louis, Sioux City, and Columbia MO.

Mark is most proud of being a dad. He has three girls and a wonderful wife of almost 25 years. They are proud residents of Mequon.

Mark is also an adjunct professor at Concordia University Wisconsin. He has taught an introductory meteorology course for the past 17 years.
