What to Expect

Upon completion of this program, not only will you earn a master’s degree with the potential for licensure (make arrangements with your state licensing agency if you are outside WI), you will emerge with a greater sense of empathy as well as a feeling of empowerment as you continue your professional journey. Graduates will feel confident in their skill sets and fully competent to shape other’s lives in a positive way. Most of all, you’ll experience the excitement of embarking on a fulfilling and rewarding career as a professional counselor.

Concordia University's Graduate Counseling Program prepares its graduates to be ethical servant leaders who value the diversity of God's children and embrace social justice with compassion. Graduates help others to lead purposeful and fulfilling lives in mind, body, and spirit. Graduates of the professional counseling program will:

  1. Integrate evidence based counseling theories, techniques and interventions into professional practice.
  2. Adhere to professional and ethical standards
  3. Actively engage in self-reflection and lifelong learning
  4. Serve clients according to their unique diverse needs
  5. Help clients to lead purposeful and fulfilling lives in mind, body and spirit
Concentrations / Specializations

Graduates who have completed specific coursework are eligible for the SAC-IT (Substance Abuse Counselor – In Training) credential through WI DSPS.

A Christian Counseling certificate is also available for those who wish to gain skills with additional coursework.

Licensure / Certifications
The professional counseling program track is an approved program by the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services (DSPS) and leads to a LPC-IT endorsement. The school counseling program track is an approved program by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction for endorsement of a #7054 School Counseling license. K4-12 License.
