Concordia’s pre-medical pathway offers a seamless transition from a bachelor’s degree to a doctorate; preparing you for either Osteopathic (D.O.) or Allopathic (M.D.) medical schools.

Our Pre-Medical pathway Provides rigorous academic preparation, hands-on learning experiences, and personalized support within a Christ-centered environment. The Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences is the ideal major for those interested in the pre-medical track. Is a D.O. right for you?

Although both are fully licensed physicians, Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) receive additional education in osteopathic manipulative medicine (OMM); a hands-on approach that complements patient care. Doctors of Medicine (M.D.) on the other hand, follow the traditional allopathic model, emphasizing evidence-based diagnosis, treatment, and clinical specialization.

Medical College Admission Test may not be required

Through our distinct partnership with LECOM, taking the MCAT is not required for qualified students! This will save you stress, time, and money in your pathway to achieving your Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree!

What to Expect

Immersive experience

Starting your freshman year, you will be hands-on in the anatomy lab with cadavers and have individual access to our Anatomage tables.

Faculty uses finger to interact with a digital anatomy visualization on CUW’s Anatomage table, pointing to the detailed 3D rendering of a human head and upper body.

The Anatomage Table is a life-sized, touchscreen digital anatomy system that will help you explore God’s design of the human body with clarity and depth.

In the anatomy lab, you'll have opportunities to interact with cadavers. By combining classroom and laboratory education, you'll graduate with the knowledge and skills necessary to be successful in your doctoral studies.

For first-time freshmen and transfer students:

Complete our online application
Provide Official High School Transcripts (college transcripts, if applicable)

Optionally, high school seniors may provide their ACT score.

LECOM Admissions

Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM) requires all students interested in the pre-medical pathway to apply and interview with LECOM within the first two years of education at Concordia. Concordia's experienced team of pre-med advisors will coach students through every step in the process. Students who successfully interview will be offered a provisional acceptance into the Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine program. Once students meet the criteria for final acceptance, they will matriculate into the LECOM campus of their choice.

LECOM will accept at least five students from Concordia into their D.O. program per year.

ICOM Admissions

Students interested in taking advantage of our guaranteed interview partnership with Idaho College of Osteopathic Medicine (ICOM) will simply need to complete their undergraduate studies at CUW and take ICOMs required classes. If students meet certain GPA and MCAT score requirements and then apply to ICOM, they will automatically be granted an interview.

LECOM Overview

Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM) is one of the nation’s largest medical schools and is the only osteopathic academic health center in the nation. Here you will be provided with a world-class medical education rooted in patient-centered care; learning to care not just for a person’s body, but also their mind and spirit.

In order to qualify for this pathway, you must apply and be accepted by LECOM by April 1st of your sophomore year, but you can apply as early as senior year of high school. Contact CUW admissions for more information on how to apply to the pathway.

LECOM Pathways

Traditional Lecture Discussion Pathway (LDP): In this pathway, you will spend the morning in lectures and the afternoon will be spent in a combination of lectures, labs, tutorials, small group discussions, and independent study sessions.
Problem-Based Learning Pathway (PBL): In this pathway, you will be divided into small groups and s tudy patient cases, in place of a traditional lecture program, to provide the context for acquiring and understanding medical science.
Self Directed-Study Pathway (DSP): This pathway follows the same curriculum timeline as the Traditional Lecture Discussion Pathway (LDP), but utilizes a different curriculum delivery model that is mostly independent of faculty lectures.
Primary Care Scholars Pathway (PCSP): This pathway allows those interested in primary care to graduate in three years. The first two years are spent in preclinical education. Clinical trainings will begin March of the second year and continue into the third year.

Idaho College of Osteopathic Medicine (ICOM) is a highly respected Osteopathic Medical School that is located in Meridian Idaho, just outside of Boise. The campus was built in 2016 with the first students matriculating in 2018. With new facilities and an amazing faculty full of leaders in medicine it is a perfect place to pursue your medical degree.

ICOM Locations

To increase flexibility for their students, ICOM has partnered with medical centers all over the country to provide internship opportunities for students during their M3 and M4 years. Although Meridian is beautiful, if you are interested in getting back closer to home, they will work with you and their partners to get you where you want to be for your 3rd and 4th years of medical school.
