2021, Week 1 Recap

September 3, 2021

Thank you for following our two policies: daily tracker and masks worn indoors

Dear Concordians,

It has been a wonderful week seeing everyone back on campus and engaging in the start of Concordia’s 141st school year.  I have enjoyed meeting so many new students and seeing you take part in our exciting Welcome Week activities. To all you returning students, faculty, and staff, please know that welcoming us all back for the fall semester is one my greatest joys.

In order to make in-person learning, living, and worshiping possible, Concordia’s leadership team, guided by the CDC and local health authorities, has instituted a measured, layered approach to mitigate viral spread on our campuses. In short, at this time, there are only two polices that we are mandating: 1) complete the daily symptom tracker, and 2) wear a mask or face covering while indoors.

Don’t have a mask? Just ask, we’ll get you one!

Beyond these basic measures, we strongly encourage all Concordians to stay home if you’re not feeling well. For those living here on campus, please contact the Student Health Center. We also strongly recommend that everyone consider getting vaccinated against COVID. Vaccinations are available on campus; click HERE to schedule an appointment. For complete information on our pandemic procedures, please visit the 2021/22 Return page on our website.

Over this past week I have been so thankful for the level of compassion and togetherness I have seen from this community in both completing the tracker and wearing masks. I am sure very few of us enjoy wearing a mask; however, please remember we do this in order to continue living and learning in-person together. Already in the past few weeks we have seen other campus across the country add much stricter COVID restrictions; some have even gone completely virtual again.

It is our hope and prayer that by faithfully following our limited precautions, we can avoid implementing more drastic measures and return to 100% normal again as soon as possible.

Thank you again for being part of an amazing start of the semester and enjoy this long Labor Day weekend! If you are on campus, you should know that there is a home women’s soccer game at 4:00 on Friday and a home football game on Saturday at 1:00. Please continue wearing your masks indoors and completing your daily symptom tracker and being the greatest Concordians you can for all of us.

Thank you and God bless you,

Dr. Steve Taylor
