The Concordia Apologetics Conference is created, organized, and hosted annually by the motivated students within CUW’s Undergraduate Pre-professional Church work Organization (UPCO). Each spring, we bring in some of the greatest minds in Christianity today to address the questions that arise in an increasingly secular world. This conference is held for the benefit of students, laypersons, and pastors alike.

What is Apologetics?

Christian apologetics is the defense of the Christian faith.  “Apologetics” is the word that St. Peter uses when he says, “But in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect…” (1 Peter 3:15)

And the world is asking. How many times have you heard someone ponder, or challenge even: How can a good God allow evil? Did Jesus really rise from the dead? Can science and Christianity co-exist? These are questions that even believers might find themselves wrestling with at some point in their lives. Our goal with the Concordia Apologetics Conference is to train and inspire Christians to become better defenders of their faith, providing a rational, compassionate, and inviting explanation in the face of criticism and doubt.
