Global Education Courses

A short-term study abroad experience

At Concordia University Wisconsin, you have the opportunity to go beyond the classroom and see the world through study abroad global education course. Do you want to study abroad but can only commit to a week or two? Concordia’s Global Education Courses might be perfect for you! These courses allow you have an exciting international travel experience paired with a single course taught and led by a Concordia professor.

In the past, our programs have offered study abroad global studies trips such as unforgettable art courses in London, Paris, and Italy, Biology courses travelling to the Caribbean and Central America, or History courses studying throughout Europe.

Every year Concordia University Wisconsin offers over a dozen Global Education Courses to a variety of locations. Instruction typically occurs during the regular semester prior to the cumulative travel experience. Travel usually takes place during the Winterim or Summer, with occasional offerings during Spring Break. These courses combine classroom study with real-world experiences, allowing students to gain international insight in their field of study. While many courses are open to the wider student body, others are limited to students of certain academic programs.

Taking Global Education Courses for at least 3 credits satisfies the culture requirement for undergraduates.

Past global education course experiences:

Art

For a number of years, the Visual & Performing Arts Department has traveled to London, Paris, and various locations in Italy. Trips change each year. In winterim 2019, classes took a two-week trip to Italy. Students were in Rome for a couple of days and then spend the rest of the time drawing and painting in Corciano (at Villa Pieve) with day trips to Florence and Perugia.

Biology

For over 30 years, biology courses have been travelling to Belize and other Caribbean and Latin American locations. In 2018, biology students traveled to Florida, the Bahamas, Columbia, Panama, Costa Rica, and Jamaica all in one trip to witness their studies in the wild. Check with the biology department for course details, as experiences very year to year.
