International student application steps

1. Complete the free online application: cuw.edu/apply

*Graduate students should use the “Promo Code” USACUW when applying

2. Submit the following documents:

(Please note that all documents submitted become the property of the University)

Undergraduate

  • Original transcripts and diplomas from all schools attended or currently attending, in English as well as the native language. If transcripts or diplomas are copies they must be certified by the school. *Transcripts must be mailed to the university.
  • TOEFL, IELTS, PTE, or Duolingo scores required for applicants whose native language is not English
  • Copy of your passport and visa if applicable

Graduate

  • Original transcripts and diplomas from all schools attended or currently attending, in English as well as the native language. If transcripts or diplomas are copies they must be certified by the school. *Transcripts must be mailed to the university.
  • TOEFL, IELTS, PTE, or Duolingo scores required for applicants whose native language is not English
  • Copy of your passport and visa if applicable
  • Resume
  • Two (2) letters of recommendation from previous teachers and/or employers

English proficiency scores

  • Students do not need to submit an English proficiency score to be admitted
  • If a student from a non-test exempt country applies without an English score, they will be offered conditional admission (the acceptance letter will show that they are admitted with ESL prior to academic study)
  • We do not have minimum sub-score requirements
  • English results can always be scanned & e-mailed
Undergraduate

Minimum English test scores for direct undergraduate academic admission:

Pearson English Language Test (PTE): 55
International English Language Testing System (IELTS): 6
Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEL): 61

Other requirements:

  • Submission of ACT/SAT test
  • Completion of IB Curriculum, British O or A levels
  • Home country that is test exempt
  • Previously studied for at least 1 year in an English test exempt country
  • Completed a bachelor’s degree in an English Test Exempt country
  • Completed ESL coursework from our partners (MLC, WESLI, ELS)
Graduate

Minimum English test scores for direct graduate academic admission:

Pearson English Language Test (PTE): 60
International English Language Testing System (IELTS): 6.5
Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEL): 79

Other requirements:

  • Home country that is test exempt
  • Previously studied for at least 1 year in an English Test Exempt country
  • Completed a bachelors/masters degree in an English Test Exempt country
  • Completed ESL coursework from our partners (MLC, WESLI, ELS)

After admission

Proof of funding for a minimum of one year of study in the form of a bank statement, loan, etc. If a relative or parent is sponsoring you, please submit a letter of support to accompany the funding. *Proof of funding must be mailed to the university.

Upon acceptance to the University, a $250 nonrefundable deposit is required (This is not an additional fee, but a payment that secures your spot at the university and is put towards your tuition upon arrival)
