Family Weekend 2020: October 2nd-4th

To prioritize the safety and well-being of our campus and student body, Concordia University’s Family Weekend is being reimagined as a weekend for students to feel at-home within Concordia’s campus. Check out the schedule below to see our rotation of on-campus events for students, and virtual events for families! In-person events that feature livestreams will be updated to include the link in the description – we invite students, friends, and families to watch these livestreams and immerse yourself in the CUW experience. Although Family Weekend will not happen in-person, we hope you will still take this opportunity to spend time together to strengthen your bond as a family and as Falcons. Friday, October 2nd

Movie Screening – Disney’s Onward

Movie starts @ 7pm,
Location: Albrecht Lounge

CAB invites you to an outdoor movie night in the Chapel Courtyard. Watch Disney’s “Onward”, the tale of two brothers who go on an adventure in hopes of bringing back their dad.

Saturday, October 3rd

Pep Band Concert

Location: Regents Courtyard

While you’re digging into your meal, tune into a performance of your favorites from CUW’s very own Pep Band! A livestream of the performance is available on the Music Department Facebook page.

Virtual Juggler, Ivan Pecel

Location: livestream viewing in the Albrecht Lounge (with remote livestreaming available)

Leave every notion of what you “thought” a juggler was at the door. Tune in via livestream to watch this high-energy, unforgettable show with one of the best in the business!

Sunday, October 4th


Location: Chapel Courtyard

Begin your week with a fresh start…attend Haven! Haven is a night devoted to prayer and praise held every Sunday (excluding Holidays). The evening is an excellent opportunity to leave your stress and worries at the cross of Jesus. This week’s featured speaker is none other than the President himself, Rev. Patrick T. Ferry. A livestream is available on the CUW Haven Facebook page.

Letters to Home

All Weekend,
Location: Campus Ministry/Campus Activities Office: Albrecht 108

Stop by the Campus Ministry and Campus Activities Office and write a letter to your friends, family, and/or loved ones! Supplies will be available – simply write your letter, drop it in the dropbox outside AL 108D, and CAB will mail the letter on your behalf!

Virtual events for students and families:

Though we can’t have families on-campus at this time, we invite Falcons and their families to spend time this weekend participating in some of the following activities together. Be sure to post photos using the #FalconFamily hashtag – you may be featured on our social media, and will even have the chance to win a gift card to the CUW bookstore! See below for more details:

Virtual family meal

Who says there can only be one cook in the kitchen?! Spend some time cooking a meal as a family via Zoom, Facetime, Google Hangout, or another video platform to make one of the below recipes from some of our favorite Concordians.

Sodexo care package

Parents can order personalized care packages from their students, courtesy of Sodexo Dining Services.

Zelfie challenge

Who doesn’t love a good Zelfie (Zoom selfie)?! Families can post their photos under the hashtag #FalconFamily (on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook) and be entered to win a giftcard to the CUW Bookstore! Only one entry/family.

Host a Netflix party

Download the "Netflix Party" browser extension, and watch some of your favorite TV shows together – no matter where you are.

All participants need to have access to Netflix to start or join a Netflix Party.

Play a Zoom game

Take Family Game Night virtual and host it via Zoom. Invite your friends, family, and more! Follow this link to get started.
