Welcome to CUW, Future Falcon!

Your "next steps" are essential to your overall success as a student, which is why we’re thrilled to guide you throughout your transition to becoming a Falcon. Our New Student Orientation will allow you to meet other incoming students, get acquainted with CUW, gather wisdom from upperclassmen, connect with faculty and staff, hear about campus resources, and empower you to play an active part in starting your journey here at CUW.

Student Orientation

Your next steps consist of the following:

  • Apply for housing
  • Complete your financial aid tasks
  • Meet your Concordia Crew
  • Learn about Placement Test Requirements (if need)
  • Complete Academic Advising & Course Registration
  • Join us for a Falcon Day (only for Fall-start students)
  • Attend New Student Orientation
  • Plan ahead for Welcome Back Weekend

Completing these next steps will ensure that you are prepared not only for your first year at Concordia, but for your entire experience as a Falcon. Your Crew Leader and CUW Staff will walk alongside you each step of the way, so don’t hesitate to reach out with questions. We’re excited to get started, and once again, welcome to Concordia!

Apply for housing

Housing requests begin in January for fall start students and in November for spring start students. After we receive your tuition deposit, you’ll be able to apply for housing. Log into your student portal, pay your $300 non-refundable housing deposit, and then complete the application via StarRez. Within the application, you’ll be able to select a meal plan and connect with roommates. You can check out our residence hall and meal plan options on our webpage and reach out to Residence Life at residence.life@cuw.edu with any questions.

Complete your financial aid tasks

Interested in Financial Aid and not sure where to begin? View our the financial aid website to review the checklist and note key deadlines, finish accepting your Financial Aid award, and familiarize yourself with your payment options.

Concordia Crew
Online platform

Concordia Crew

Your Concordia Crew is your assigned small group of incoming committed students led by a current CUW student, your Concordia Crew Leader! They are here to guide you throughout your transition to CUW by facilitating your crew's Falcon Feed Community, being available to answer your questions, inviting you to campus for various events, leading you throughout New Student Orientation, and staying in touch during your first semester. Your crew's connection starts soon after you commit and will last throughout your full fall semester!

Falcon Days

Falcon Days

Falcon Days are a required part of your orientation experience and are offered throughout the summer prior to you first semester (fall) at CUW. You will pick one of our 5 offered Falcon days, which are designed for all incoming Falcons and your family members, Whether you're a transfer student or a first-year student, the goal of these pre-orientation days is to provide you with all of the tools you need to feel prepared for your life as a student. Meet other incoming students, learn about residential and commuter life, get your financial aid questions answered, and connect with resources that will aid in your transition to CUW.

Academic Advising & Registration

Academic Advising & Registration

As part of your Falcon Day registration you will complete your "Course Registration Survey." This will provide important information for your academic advisor to begin building your schedule and registering you into your courses. You will receive your schedule prior to your Falcon Day and will have the chance to review and ask questions during the academic advising portion of Falcon Day. Even if you are unable to attend an in-person Falcon Day due to schedule contraints or travel limitations, you will select the "I cannot attend an in-person Falcon Day" so you are still able to complete the required Course Registration Survey. Please speak with your Admission Counselor if you have any questions about the academic advising and course registration process.

New Student Orientation

New Student Orientation

The final piece of the puzzle: New Student Orientation! Designed for all incoming students (residential and commuter, freshmen and transfer), this four-day experience is packed with social and academic events, which will get you excited and prepared for year one. Prepare yourself to create your first memories as a Falcon! The fun continues all week with the Week of Welcome activities hosted by the Campus Activities Board.

Plan ahead for Welcome Back Weekend

In conjunction with Homecoming Weekend, we are excited to welcome everyone back to campus! This weekend will be full of creating memories, reuniting with current and former CUW students, and celebrating all that CUW has to offer. Check out our Welcome Back Weekend page for details!

Parent & Family Engagement

Parents and family members – we did not forget about you! The full day of programming on our Falcon Days in June and July as well as the first day of New Student Orientation in August include sessions specifically designed for YOU, as parents and family members. Additionally, Welcome Back Weekend is all about welcoming families back to campus in the fall to join your students for a full weekend of Falcon Family Fun!
